108A Downsview weekend/evening trial starts June 23
The TTC Board approved a trial of a new service on the 108A Downsview branch (Downsview Station-Jane Street via Grandravine Drive). Starting on June 23, buses will run during the evenings from Monday to Friday, all day on Saturdays and during the daytime and early evenings on Sundays and holidays. The adjustment is expected to improve service and shorten walks for customers destined to and from areas on Grandravine Drive.
The pilot service will operate for a minimum of six months at no additional cost to the TTC.
TTC approves purchase of 126 articulated buses
The TTC Board approved a contract amendment worth $119.4 million to Nova Bus (a division of Volvo Group Canada Inc.) for the purchase of an additional 126 18.3-metre (60-foot) articulated, low-floor, clean-diesel buses for delivery starting in 2014.
Last September, the Board approved an initial contract for 27 articulated buses, with delivery starting this year. The TTC is expected to achieve upwards of $9 million annually in operational savings when all 153 articulated buses are in service.
