As part of the ongoing modernization and implementation of PRESTO across the system, the TTC has introduced a new Customer Service Agent role. Stations on Line 1 from Vaughan Metropolitan Centre to Wilson Station already have them in place.

As of Sunday, January 6, 2019, Customer Service Agents are now in Yorkdale and Lawrence West stations as the collector booths at these stations have closed permanently.

If there is no collector booth, how do I pay my fare?

  • PRESTO: Simply tap your PRESTO card at one of the fare gates.
  • Tickets or tokens: You can still pay with tickets or tokens, but you won’t be able to purchase them at Yorkdale Station or Lawrence West Station.
  • Cash: You can pay with cash, but be sure to have exact fare handy.
  • TTC Weekly or GTA pass: Speak to a Customer Service Agent at the station.

You will be able to buy and load your PRESTO card at all TTC stations.

With the TTC monthly passes and the 12-Month Pass available on PRESTO, and with all Shoppers Drug Mart stores around Toronto now selling PRESTO cards, switching to PRESTO is getting easier all the time.

Why is the TTC moving to this model?

As part of the ongoing modernization and implementation of PRESTO across the system, the TTC is introducing a new Customer Service Agent role. CSAs will play a critical role in delivering a consistently efficient, safe and engaging experience for our customers at stations.
Once the PRESTO rollout is complete and customers no longer have the opportunity to purchase or use tickets, tokens or TTC passes, the way customers purchase their fare will change. Customers will use one of the new PRESTO Fare Vending Machines that will be available at all subway station entrances to purchase their card, load it with money or a TTC Monthly Pass or check their balance.

Who do I speak to if I need help or have a question?

A Customer Service Agent would be pleased to help you answer your question or direct you to where you purchase and pay your fare.

Look for someone in a TTC uniform beside the fare gates and they would be more than happy to assist you.

What if I need help right away or have an emergency?

In an emergency, go to the Passenger Assistance Intercom located beside the fare gates and push the button to speak with someone immediately.

I have a lot of tokens/tickets will I be able to get a refund?

You will not be able to get a refund or exchange. It is recommended that you use your tokens. 

Will children need a PRESTO card?

Children 0-5 will not be required to get a PRESTO card.

Children ages 6 to 12 will require a PRESTO card. It will not carry a balance but children will be able to tap on and enter the system. To set a child fare type on a PRESTO card you must go to Shoppers Drug Mart or visit the TTC’s Customer Service Centre above Davisville Station. Cards cost $6 and require a minimum $10 load. The money won’t expire and can be used on other transit agencies that use PRESTO. Valid government issued photo identification is needed to set a child fare type.

Where should customers go to purchase tickets, tokens, TTC passes?

Customers can purchase tickets, tokens or TTC passes from collector booths at all stations except for the Line 1 extension stations, Sheppard West, Wilson, Yorkdale and Lawrence West stations. Customers can also purchase fares from Authorized TTC Fare Sellers. Customers can still use tickets, tokens and TTC passes to pay their fare at all TTC subway stations.

How do I pay using my TTC Weekly or GTA pass?

Swipe card readers are being replaced with PRESTO card readers at all stations. If you use a TTC Weekly or GTA Pass, you will need to enter the station through the collector booth aisle at the main entrance or speak to a Customer Service Agent at the stations that do not have a collector booth.
