TTC Yonge Subway Nightly Early Closure
June 19, 2008
In order to undertake necessary subway tunnel repairs, the TTC will be closing the Yonge Subway north of Lawrence Station approximately 90 minutes earlier each night, from Sunday through Friday. This temporary change will begin this Sunday, June 22, and will continue until early in 2009. Normal subway service will continue to operate on Saturday nights.
Subway customers needing to travel north of Lawrence Station after the subway closure need to transfer at the bus platform at Lawrence Station. The 60 Steeles West, 36 Finch West, 53 Steeles East and 39 Finch East bus routes will all be extended south on Yonge Street to Lawrence Station to replace the subway trains. The 97F Yonge bus will also be extended to provide an accessible connection between Davisville, Lawrence and Finch stations. Customers who use mobility devices, or who want to avoid stairs and escalators, should use the elevators at Davisville Station to transfer from the subway to the northbound 97F Yonge bus.
Finch, Sheppard-Yonge and York Mills stations will remain open for regular bus service. Trains on the Sheppard Subway will also continue to operate. North York Centre station will close at approximately 12:30 am.
