Lawrence Station - roof rehabilitation
Starting as early as March 29, 2021
What we are doing and why
The TTC will be conducting roof repairs at the main entrance building of Lawrence Station on Line 1. During this project, the station entrance will remain open and service will be maintained at all times.
What to expect
Starting the week of March 29, work crews will create a safe work zone and start installing protective scaffolding around the entrance of the building. Work is scheduled for completion by the end of June.
Once safe work and pedestrian zones are established, work activities will include the removal and installation of new roof flashings along the roof wall, removal of the old roof material and application of new roof material.
Materials deliveries from TTC’s roof supplier will be conducted between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. multiple times during the course of the project. Some supplies will be stored on the roof.
Odour
The traditional method of liquid asphalt application (asphalt kettle) is not being used. The roofing system used is a 3-ply membrane applied with heat and produces less odour.
Dust and debris disposal
Dust will be controlled as much as possible. A fenced off area will be erected around material storage and disposal bins.
Work hours
Work will typically take place during regular daytime hours of 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and may extend to 8 p.m. if needed. Safety sensitive activities and delivery of materials/supplies will occur outside of these hours.
