TTC service improvements and changes
Several changes will take effect on February 16, 2020 (unless otherwise noted) and include service reliability improvements, route/service/stop adjustments and impacts from construction.
Service reliability improvements
The Service Reliability Program, which continuously monitors and improves schedules to better match observed operating conditions, will result in new schedules for the following routes, effective February 18, 2019 unless otherwise noted:
- 21 Brimley (effective February 16, 2020)
- 53 Steeles East
- 54 Lawrence East
- 116 Morningside
- 129 McCowan North
- 945 Kipling Express
- 953 Steeles East Express
25 Don Mills
Schedules will be adjusted on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays to reflect changes in Metrolinx LRT construction for Line 5 Eglinton. Service levels and trips times will change throughout the weekend. The service on Saturday afternoon will be improved from every 8 to 9 minutes to every 7 to 8 minutes. The service on Sunday during the daytime will be reduced from every 8 to 9 minutes to every 10 minutes.
53 Steeles East (effective February 18, 2020)
During the early morning period (before approximately 6:30 a.m.), service will be reduced from every 5 to 6 minutes to every 9 minutes to reflect actual customer demand and so that resources can be reallocated for other improvements.
120 Calvington will now serve an existing eastbound stop on Wilson Avenue at Lady York Avenue. The stop marker will be updated to include the 120 Calvington service. Schedules will remain unchanged.
129 McCowan North (effective February 18, 2020)
At the request of York Region Transit, contract service on 129A (Scarborough Centre Station-Major Mackenzie) will be increased during the weekday off-peak periods. Service in the midday will be improved from every 28 minutes to every 25 minutes. Service in the early evening will be improved from every 24 minutes to every 21 minutes, and service in the late evening will be improved from every 40 minutes to every 33 to 34 minutes.
189 Stockyards (effective February 18, 2020)
Schedules will be reduced in parts of the afternoon peak period so that resources can be reallocated to other. Afternoon peak period service will operate every 20 minutes only between approximately 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Due to the closure of Fleet Street between Bathurst Street and Iannuzzi Street, southbound 307 Bathurst buses will be rerouted via Fort York Boulevard and Iannuzzi Street. A new southbound stop will be placed on Iannuzzi Street, near Fleet Street.
503 Kingston Rd (effective February 18, 2020)
Service levels will be adjusted on 503 Kingston Rd to reallocate resources for other service improvements in the network:
- Before 7 a.m., service will be reduced from every 6 to 7 minutes to every 8 to 9 minutes
- After 6 p.m., service will be reduced from every 7 to 8 minutes to every 9 to 10 minutes
927 Highway 27 Express (effective February 18, 2020)
Additional southbound service will operate in the early morning, before approximately 6:00 a.m., from Monday to Friday, to reduce crowding for customers.
954 Lawrence East Express (effective February 18, 2020)
The 954 Lawrence Express stop that serves Rushley Drive in the morning will be moved approximately 270 metres west to Brockley Drive due to the relocation of David and Mary Thomson Collegiate Institute to 125 Brockley Drive.
Impacts from construction
Davisville Station Bus Loop Rehabilitation
Bus loop rehabilitation work will end and bus routes serving Davisville Station will return to regular routing inside the bus terminal.
The 11 Bayview, 28 Bayview South, and 97 Yonge southbound will return to platforms on the east side of the station. The 14 Glencairn and 97 Yonge northbound will return to platforms on the west side of the station. The interline between 14 Glencairn and 28 Bayview South will be removed.
Lawrence Station Bus Driveway Rehabilitation (effective February 25, 2020)
Bus roadway rehabilitation works will end and bus routes serving Lawrence Station will return to regular routing inside the bus terminal.
The 52 Lawrence West and 952 Lawrence West Express will return to platforms on the west side of the station. The 124 Sunnybrook and 162 Lawrence-Donway, currently serving stops on street, will return to platforms on the east side of the station.
Elevator construction at Kennedy Station will begin and is planned to last until summer 2020. Additional service will be added to the late evening period on all days to improve access between Kennedy Station and Scarborough Centre Station for the duration of the work. Late evening service will be improved from every 30 minutes to every 20 to 22 minutes.
79 Scarlett Rd
Two platforms at Runnymede Station will re-open during the second phase of work on Runnymede Station Easier Access elevators, allowing 79 Scarlett Rd to return to Runnymede Station. The temporary detour to High Park Station will end and all 79 Scarlett Rd trips will return to Runnymede Station. There will be no change to 71 Runnymede and 77 Swansea.
