TTC service changes
TTC service changes
Several changes have been scheduled to take effect on October 10, 2021 (unless otherwise noted). Service adjustments will be made on many routes in response to changed ridership since the start of pandemic and on-going provincial reopening plans. Routes with higher or increasing utilization will have service levels improved. This will apply the new guidelines for planning crowding approved in the 2021 Annual Service Plan.
Monday-Friday schedules will be the same as February 2020. Saturday and Sunday schedules will be the same as August 2021.
24 Victoria Park (Effective October 12, 2021)
Service will be increased in the early evening on weekdays to meet expected ridership demand on the route. Service will change from every 8-9 minutes to every 7-8 minutes.
32 Eglinton West (Effective October 12, 2021)
Service will be increased to pre-pandemic levels in the daytime on weekdays, in order to meet expected ridership demand on the route.
34 Eglinton East (Effective October 12, 2021)
Service will be increased in all periods (except the early evening) from Monday to Friday to meet expected ridership demand on the route.
43 Kennedy (Effective October 12, 2021)
Service levels will be improved on the 43B (Kennedy Stn-Scarborough Ctr Stn via Progress) branch in the morning peak period to provide more service to essential employment areas on Progress Avenue. Service will improve from every 15 minutes to every 12 minutes. With the introduction of new express service on 943 Kennedy Express, service levels on 43 Kennedy will be reduced in the afternoon peak period. Overall, service levels on the Kennedy corridor will be improved.
Service will be increased in the peak periods from Monday to Friday to meet expected ridership demand on the route. Service levels will improve from every 24 minutes to every 20 minutes.
68 Warden (Effective October 12, 2021)
Saturday and Sunday service on the 68 Warden will be improved in the morning and afternoon periods, from every 12 minutes to every 10 minutes. With the introduction of new express service on 968 Warden Express, service levels on 68 Warden will be reduced in the morning and afternoon peak period. Overall, service levels on the Warden corridor will be improved.
88 South Leaside (Effective October 12, 2021)
Service will be increased in the afternoon peak period from Monday to Friday to meet expected ridership demand on the route. Service will change from every 12 minutes to every 7-8 minutes.
New express service
943 Kennedy Express (Effective October 12, 2021)
As part of the Annual Service Plan 2021, a new express route 943 Kennedy Express will be introduced to serve the Kennedy Road corridor.
953 Steeles East Express
As part of the Annual Service Plan 2021, new periods of service will be introduced on 953 Steeles East Express on weekday midday and early evening periods, and Saturday and Sundays morning and afternoon.
New off-peak express service will operate via the Yonge Street and Steeles Avenue East intersection, and will not divert via Bayview Avenue and Finch Avenue East used during afternoon peak periods.
960 Steeles West Express
As part of the Annual Service Plan 2021, new periods of service will be introduced on 960 Steeles West Express on Saturday and Sundays morning and afternoon.
968 Warden Express (Effective October 12, 2021)
As part of the Annual Service Plan 2021, a new express route 968 Warden Express will be introduced to serve the Warden Road corridor.
Service reliability improvements
This program continuously monitors and improves schedules to better match observed operating conditions and will result in new schedules for the following routes:
- 8 Broadview

- 23 Dawes (effective October 12, 2021)
- 30 High Park
- 51 Leslie
- 53 Steeles East
- 56 Leaside

- 900 Airport Express
- 937 Islington Express (effective October 12, 2021)
- 501L/H Queen (Bus)
With the introduction of new periods of express service on 929 Dufferin Express, service levels on 29 Dufferin will be reduced on Sundays in the morning and afternoon periods. Overall, service levels on the Dufferin corridor will be improved.
30 High Park
Service levels will be reduced during the daytime and early evening periods, from every 15 minutes to every 20 minutes.
53 Steeles East
With the introduction of new periods of express service on 953 Steeles East Express, the 53A (Finch Stn-Staines) will be replaced by new express service Monday-Friday in the midday and early evening periods, and weekends in the morning and afternoon periods. Overall, service levels on the Steeles East corridor will be improved.
60 Steeles West
With the introduction of new periods of express service on 960 Steeles West Express, the 60D (Finch Stn-Highway 27) and 60B (Finch Stn-Martin Grove) branches will be replaced by new express service on weekends in the morning and afternoon periods. Overall, service levels on the Steeles West corridor will be improved.
69 Warden South
The 69A and 69B branches will be adjusted to simplify directions for customers, and stay consistent with other routes that operate opposite directions in loops. The 69A will operate counter-clockwise (south via Warden, north via Birchmount), while the 69B will operate clockwise (south via Birchmount, north via Warden).
Service on the 70B (Coxwell Stn-Eglinton Sq) branch will be changed to operate on the 70A (Coxwell Stn-Eglinton) branch in the late evening from Monday to Friday and on Sunday/holidays. This will provide late evening service to and north of Eglinton Avenue East during all days of the week. With this change, all service will operate on the 70A or 70C (Coxwell Stn-Warden Stn) branches, and the 70B will be eliminated.
73 Royal York (Effective October 12, 2021)
Service in the afternoon peak and early evening periods will be improved on the 73C (Royal York Stn-Claireport) branch to increase capacity on the Albion Road corridor, from every 25 minutes to every 20 minutes. Service will be reduced on the 73B (Royal York Stn-Eglinton & LaRose) due to low demand, from every 17 minutes to every 30 minutes.
95 York Mills
As part of the Annual Service Plan 2021, the 95A (York Mills Stn-Kingston Rd) branch will be extended to Sheppard Avenue East/Port Union Road.
96 Wilson (Effective October 12, 2021)
Early morning schedules on 96 Wilson will be adjusted to restore all trips between 4:50 a.m. and 6 a.m., which were removed in September. These tips will be visible online for trip planning purposes starting October 12, 2021.
121 Fort York-Esplanade becomes 121 Esplanade-River
As approved in the 2021 Annual Service Plan, service on route 121 Fort York-Esplanade will be modified to operate east of Union Station only. Service along Front Street West, Blue Jays Way, and Fort York Boulevard will be removed. In the east, service will be extended through the Corktown and Regent Park neighbourhoods to terminate at Bridgepoint Hospital.
With these changes, the route will be renamed to 121 Esplanade-River to better reflect its new routing and service area.
Wilson Station Bus Terminal Construction
Construction will begin at Wilson Lower Bus Terminal to rehabilitate the driveway and surrounding area. As a result, access to the lower bus terminal will be closed and bus routes will need to divert for customers. A temporary bus loop will be constructed on the east side of Wilson Station, off of Wilson Heights Boulevard.
The bus routes that will operate to the temporary terminal will be: 29 Dufferin, 929 Dufferin Express, 104 Faywood, and 160 Bathurst North.
The routes that will remain in the main terminal will be 96 Wilson, 996 Wilson Express, 118 Thistle Down, 119 Torbarrie, 120 Calvington, and 165 Weston Rd North.
There will be no change to the scheduled service levels on these routes. Construction is expected to last until 2022.
14 Glencairn/28 Bayview South
The bus terminal at Davisville Station will fully reopen after being partially closed in September/October 2021. The 14 Glencairn and 28 Bayview South will serve the station inside the terminal.
44 Kipling South/944 Kipling South Express (Effective date: TBD)
As a result of road closures due to track replacement at Kipling Loop and at the intersection of Lake Shore Boulevard West and Kipling Avenue, buses on 44 Kipling and 944 Kipling Express will need to divert. Timing of the full closure is still to be determined, but will occur for several weeks in October and/or November, 2021.
The 97B (Queens Quay-York Mills Station via Yonge Blvd) branch will return to serve the Davisville Station bus terminal in both directions with the completion of construction.
501 Queen streetcars will continue their detour routing to Charlotte Loop via Parliament Street and King Street, as track and overhead upgrades continue. Streetcar service will continue on this routing until it is restored to Wolseley Loop as of January 2022. In the east, cars will turn back at Russell Carhouse while overhead upgrades are completed between Russell Carhouse and Woodbine Loop. A new replacement bus branch, 501N (Neville Park-Commissioners) will be scheduled to replace streetcar service. 503 Kingston Rd cars will continue to operate through this area as upgrades are ongoing.
For clarity and consistency, the 501P branch will be re-lettered as 501H in the westbound direction. In the eastbound direction, 501J destination signs will be changed to 501B.
301 Queen overnight service will be operated by buses to reduce transfers for customers traversing the various construction zones across the city.
Seasonal service ending
With the seasonal reduction of opening hours at the Toronto Zoo, the evening shuttle service between the Zoo and Meadowvale Loop will be suspended. Regular daytime service on the 86A (Kennedy Stn-Toronto Zoo) branch will continue to operate.
121 Fort York-Esplanade becomes 121 Esplanade-River
Summer seasonal service on the 121D branch to Ontario Place and Cherry Beach will be removed. Details regarding replacement seasonal service to the Port Lands and Cherry Beach will be confirmed through the 2022 Annual Service Plan process.
175 Bluffer’s Park (Effective October 16, 2021)
Service on 175 Bluffer’s Park will be suspended for the fall and winter seasons. Service will be scheduled to operate until, and including, Thanksgiving (Monday, October 11th 2021).
